With all the hype of recent Xiaomi events in several countries celebrating company’s 10th anniversary, another successor of Redmi family has come – Redmi 9A.
The release of new device does not make Xiaomi forget the previous predecessor within Redmi line up, the Redmi 8A.
This is true for the recent firmware update.
Xiaomi has rolled out Android 10 updates for Redmi 8A, but it’s still MIUI 11.
It means users can enjoy some core features of Android 10 including latest patches and upgraded security.
However, some new MIUI 12 features are absence from the device.
The company is still rolling out MIUI 12 gradually. Redmi 8A is still in the waiting list.
The MIUI 11 based on Android 10 comes to all variants of Redmi 8A: Global, China, India, Europe (EEA), and Russia.
Being always in the latest version of Android is really an advantage.
Not only for security reasons but also for being compatible with latest third-party apps using latest Android SDK.
Given the fact that Xiaomi always release new Redmi A series every year, the Redmi 8A is not eligible for future Android 11 update most likely.
This becomes a habit that Xiaomi provides update for low-end devices for 1 major update only.
Here are the respective build numbers of MIUI 11 based on Android 10 for Redmi 8A:
REGION | BUILD NUMBER |
China | V11.0.2.0.QCPCNXM |
Global | V11.0.1.0.QCPMIXM |
India | V11.0.1.0.QCPINXM |
EEA (Europe) | V11.0.1.0.QCPEUXM |
Russia | V11.0.1.0.QCPRUXM |
Redmi 8A was a great success for Xiaomi. It drove a decent numbers of sales for the company.
It is nice seeing Xiaomi to put some concerns for its low end devices.
